Dota: Mercurial
61The specter is an ancient, malevolent darkness that's been present in the world of Azeroth for thousands of years. She predates the scourge, Burning Legion's arrival, and even the orcs' first apperance on the world. Ancient sages described Mercurial as the embodiment of rage and vengeance left in the souls of those long dead. The physical plane is not her home... she walks in a world of shadows and phantasms, and can appear anywhere at will if she chooses. Any unlucky enough to be her prey knows that she may chase them beyond any physical boundaries - there is no escape. It's unknown why she's fighting alongside the scourge heroes in Defense of the Ancients... possibly just for the thrill of battle?
Spectre skills
Many players like using the Dota Mercurial character as she has one of the skills people refer to as global maphack. She should be feared as a constant presence, being able to Haunt images of herself upon all enemies heroes from any distance. This agilty character can even reform her actual self into any one of those images to physically enter a fight.
Haunt: The Dota spectre ultimate skill. Mercurial haunts everyone on the battlefield with her phantasmal images. These illusions do reduced damage and cannot be controlled, only going after the person they're shadowing. However, she can also use her Reality ability to take the place of any phantasm. This is the most feared Specter ability, which she can use every couple minutes.
Spectral Dagger: Mercurial can toss a dagger of phantasmal energy towards any foe or direction she wishes. It leaves a shadow path underneath it, and anything the dirk might strike also is followed by a path. They're also temporarily slowed. The spectre can walk on this shadow path as if it was immaterial. This allows her to pass through buildings, trees, and even mountainsides hunting after anyone the spectral dagger struck.
Dispersion: She is protected by a phantasmal field of energy. A significant portion of all damage directed her way will bounce off and be dispersed among all the enemy heroes in the area. It also permanentely reduces the damage the Dota Mercurial hero takes.
Desolate: The spectre's dagger gains extra power if her intended target is all alone. It's not sure exactly where this energy comes from, but her enemies are unable to reduce or block it in any form. All of her haunting illusions also come with this desolation ability. Does extra damage per hit.
